This style of chair called "Deng Gua Yi"in China, and is one of the typical styles of chair from the Ming Dynasty.The name 'Deng Gua"comes from the lamp stand which was used in South China villages in the past, because the head of the chair looks similar to the handle of lamp stands which held hanging lamps on each side. These chair were previously used by common families.
