White stone carving of "Guan-Yin" buddha head. In China "Guan-Yin" is one of the most worshipped buddhas; he is the buddha in charge of peace and security. The buddha's form is reminiscent of art styles of the Song Dynasty, which is more than 900 years ago. This buddha would have been placed in the temple or used by wealthy family as a devotional item.
